SGP Interlayer

SentryGlas Plus, an advanced ionoplast interlayer that is approximately 100 times stiffer and 5 times stronger than standard PVB, used in high-performance laminated glass for structural and hurricane applications.

Technical Details

SGP (SentryGlas Plus, manufactured by Kuraray/Trosifol) is an ionoplast polymer interlayer that maintains exceptional stiffness and clarity even after glass breakage. Unlike PVB, SGP continues to transfer loads between glass layers when one or both plies are broken, providing post-breakage structural capacity. It has superior resistance to moisture edge delamination and maintains performance across a wider temperature range (-22°F to 176°F).

INFINITYGLASS™ Application

INFINITYGLASS™ hurricane-rated enclosure systems specify SGP interlayers for maximum structural integrity, post-breakage performance, and compliance with Florida Building Code and Miami-Dade NOA requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is SGP preferred for hurricane glass?

SGP maintains structural capacity even after glass breakage, preventing the laminate from collapsing under continued wind pressure. This post-breakage performance is critical during sustained hurricane conditions where a standard PVB laminate might sag or detach.
